The Traditional Wedding Day Schedule

Although each wedding is different, there is usually a pattern with how the events of the day are laid out. At Hidden Creek, the ceremony takes place outside. After it’s over and the pictures have been taken, the newly weds enter the reception descending the grand staircase. They do their first dance, and then sit down at their table and get served food first. Then, the rest of the guests get served or get up to serve themselves through the buffet line. As a result, everyone eats at the same time. 

Hidden Creek’s Twist on Dinner

Although eating dinner with your guests is the traditional sequence of events at a wedding, you can also use dinner as a chance to spend some alone time with your partner for about 10-15 minutes. Instead of making your grand entrance after the ceremony, you and your partner can eat dinner inside the bridal suite, so you can spend some quality time together before you entertain your guests for the rest of the night.

Once you have finished eating, you can do your grand entrance, first dance, and then go around and dismiss tables for the buffet line. This gives you an opportunity to say hi to all of your guests and talk to them for 3-5 minutes while you wait for the buffet line to go down to then dismiss the next table. 

Additional Twist on Dinner Options

Another option is to have your DJ dismiss each table for the buffet, and then you and your partner can wait by the staircase and take a picture with everyone that gets in line for the food. That way, you have pictures with all of your guests. And you also get the opportunity to say hi to everyone in a smooth manner.

Spending Alone Time with Your Partner

The overall goal of this twist on dinner is to offer you and your partner some alone time during your wedding day. Although it is only 10-15 minutes, these minutes are precious, and allows you to enjoy each others’ presence in this very special day in your life.
